Statue of Elizabeth Blackwell

300 Pulteney Street, Hobart Quadrangle, Geneva, NY 14456

Did you know that the first woman to receive her degree as a Doctor of Medicine did so in Geneva? Elizabeth Blackwell graduated from Geneva Medical College in 1849, the school that would eventually become Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Head over to the Hobart Quadrangle on campus to see the sculpture created in 1994 to celebrate Blackwell’s contributions to medicine and the women’s rights movement.
