2024 County Hike Series – Steuben County

The 2024 County Hike Series in Steuben County is now OPEN. The hikes will cover approximately 70 miles of hills, deep valleys, ravines, and gorges in Steuben County. In 70 miles you will hike through four State Forests, two different County Parks, pass by Hammondsport and Keuka Lakes, and hike through North Hornell.

We are offering TWO options for participation; Group Hikes, guided by experienced Hike Leaders, include bus service from the end to the starting point of each hike and a SAG (Supply and Gear) Wagon with snacks and refreshments. Independent Hikes allow you to complete the hikes on your own.

The Group Hikes registration is now CLOSED.  Individual Hikes option is still open until July 1.

2023 Volunteer Census

The 2023 Volunteer Census is now open.  Did you volunteer for the FLT in 2023?  We need to hear from you.  Reporting the hours you volunteered is very important.  It documents to NYS public land managers, the North Country Trail Association, the National Park Service, and our financial auditors, the volunteer time and effort we have put forth to maintain and manage a foot trail across New York State.

FLT Connect

FLT Connect is a FREE series of workshops and presentations designed to educate, inspire, and connect trail users. Unless otherwise noted, all FLT Connect events are conducted via ZOOM. All FLT Connect events are recorded and made available through the FLTC’s YouTube Learning Library.

The mission of the Finger Lakes Trail Conference is to build, protect, enhance, and promote a continuous footpath across New York State. Forever!

The Finger Lakes Trail system, over 1000 miles in length, runs from the Pennsylvania-New York border in Allegany State Park to Long Path and the summit of Slide Mountain in the Catskill Forest Preserve, with branch trails to Niagara Falls, the Genesee River valley, the Great Eastern Trail south of Corning, the central Finger Lakes, and the Syracuse region. From the PA border to the northeast end of the Onondaga Branch, the Finger Lakes Trail is also the North Country National Scenic Trail. This system is built and maintained almost entirely by volunteers. Covering some of the most scenic land in New York, we welcome you to hike it, and volunteer to keep it beautiful. This site offers maps and tools for both.
