Before becoming an aviation pioneer, Glenn Curtiss was an accomplished bicycle racer and one of America’s earliest motorcycle manufacturers. Driven by an insatiable need for speed, Curtiss held numerous speed records and, in 1907, strapped a motor made for flight onto an altered bicycle frame and rode so fast he became “Fastest Man on Earth.” With popular annual events, exhibits of vintage aircraft, motorcycles, and automobiles, the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum tells the story of how Hammondsport got its wings.
