The Rochester Americans (known locally as the Amerks) are a professional ice hockey team based in Rochester, New York. Founded in 1956, they are an American Hockey League (AHL) franchise affiliated with the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres. Competing in the AHL’s North Division, the Americans play their home games at the Blue Cross Arena from October through April.
