Fine Dining & Spa Treatments

Winter in the Finger Lakes can bring its fair share of snow and cold, so why not warm up with a spa weekend? Relax and unwind with some of the Finger Lakes best spas, restaurants, and boutique hotels.

DAY ONE

Take an early flight into the Syracuse Airport, then head to Destiny USA for some lunch and shopping – where you’ll find stores like Anthropologie, Lululemon, Kate Spade and White House Black Market.

With more than 250 places to shop and dine, you could spend a full day there if you’d like. Or, after a few hours, head over to Skaneateles. This charming lakeside town has countless shops and restaurants. Start with a wine tasting at Anyela’s Vineyard in their sophisticated tasting room. Before the sun sets make sure to take a stroll by the clear blue Skaneateles Lake to take in the wintery water scene. Warm up with dinner at The Krebs, a historic fine dining restaurant that serves a modern take on classic American fare. Spend your first night at Sherwood Inn, a charming inn with carefully restored guest rooms overlooking Skaneateles Lake.

DAY TWO

Enjoy a cozy morning sleeping in, then head over to The Bistro & Wine Bar at Mirbeau Inn & Spa for breakfast (served until 10:30am). Continue your relaxing morning with a spa treatment at Mirbeau complete with a massage, facial, or even a soak in a mineral bath. Extend your experience with the complimentary indulgences, including the Resting Area with heated foot pool and herbal infused saunas.

All that relaxation will make you hungry so head to Fargo Bar & Grill in Aurora, NY for a classic tavern lunch. If you’re looking for something a little smaller, pick up soup or a homemade pastry at The Village Market.

Continue your afternoon with some shopping at the Mackenzie Childs Shop or even a tour of the Mackenzie Childs Farmhouse (available Thursday-Sunday). At the shop you’ll find a charming display of handmade furniture, lighting, rugs, and tableware.

For dinner, check out Aurora Cooks, a demonstration kitchen that offers tastings, cooking demonstrations, or chef’s table dinners. Check out their calendar to see what events they have while you’re in town.

End your relaxing day with an overnight at one of the Inns of Aurora properties on the shore of Cayuga Lake. The five different inns strike the perfect balance of historic charm and modern luxury to give you a relaxing stay on a cold winter night. Make sure you don’t miss their evening wine and cheese hour.

DAY THREE

Grab breakfast from another Inns of Aurora property, 1833 Kitchen & Bar. This farm-to-table restaurant makes everything from scratch and sources their food locally. Spend the rest of your morning with a treatment at the Inn’s Spa, and enjoy the many complimentary amenities, such as your choice of three pools, sauna, hot tub, steam room, relaxation room, and fire pit with heated benches.  You also have access to a seasonally spread of complimentary snacks, or choose from any of their other wellness activities like yoga, spice blending, tea blending, or even tarot reading.

Next, head west to Canandaigua, another stunning lake town. On your way, you may want to take a detour to Spa Del Lago, located in the de Lago Resort & Casino. Indulge in a facial, massage, body wrap, and/or salon services.

Once you arrive in Canandaigua, grab a beer at Young Lion Brewing Company. Sit back and sip as you enjoy gorgeous views out the window of Canandaigua Lake. When you’re ready, head over to New York Kitchen. Dine in the restaurant, which serves top notch, farm-to-table fare from local area farmers. If you’re looking for a more hands-on experience, their calendar is full of cooking classes, workshops and pairing dinners to book ahead of time.

End your last night with a stay at The Lake House, a stunning local resort on the shores of Canandaigua Lake. The winter is the perfect time to visit so you can cozy up in their Library Bar by the fireplace, take a dip in the outdoor hot tub, or grab dessert by the wood fired hearth at Rose Tavern.

You will want to make time at the end of your visit to enjoy other winter activities – like skiing at Bristol Mountain Ski Resort or snowshoe at Cumming Nature Center, where snowshoers have their own three miles of trails – before flying out of the Rochester airport
